About

This workshop aims to explore multimodal approaches for household robotics. We plan to discuss how to meet challenges not only in their technological aspects but also with regard to human-robot communication (HRC) and interaction (HRI) by bringing together experts from different domains. We have invited two keynote speakers covering different aspects of household robotics in academia and industry. This will be followed by presentations of accepted submissions. The attendees will be divided into 5-8 groups depending on the number of par- ticipants. Each group will be assigned a small set of challenges related to house hold robotics and will be asked to brainstorm how to overcome these. Finally, a group discussion led by the keynote speakers is planned to integrate the results of all groups. At the end of the workshop, we will identify critical challenges that must be addressed to have robots perform household chores and broaden our understanding of other related disciplines.

Invited Speakers

  • Francesco Ferro

    PAL Robotics

  • Cédric Buche

    Naval Group Pacific, Australia

Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Brest (ENIB), France

Call for papers

In this workshop, we aim to bring together machine learning and robotics researchers who work at the intersection of these fields. Please submit a 2-4 page position paper which should highlight: Some robotic technology you are developing Potential use of this technology for enabling a robot to perform household chores

The second part is very crucial in deciding which submissions will be accepted. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Robotic perception and sensor fusion
  • Autonomous navigation and mapping
  • Manipulation and grasping
  • Learning from demonstration and reinforcement learning
  • Human-robot interaction
  • Multi-robot systems
  • Robotics for household chores
  • AI for robotic decision-making
